In his era, he had very few rivals who could compete with the performances his progeny put in at the tests. Speckles also produced many test Winners and Top ten performance Bucks in his career. Like Copyright, Speckles had progeny perform in the Forage-only, Forage-supplemented and Feedlot tests. He produced progeny with the ability to gain weight and become good sized animals but also contend with a worm burden. His female progeny were noted for their good udders and like Copyright, his daughters were spread across the country and produced high performing performance tested bucks. Speckles partially got his nick-name by producing wildly colored speckled and patched kids that were easily recognized in his progeny and for several generations later in the pedigree.
